Baked Chicken with honey mustard sauce

Tonight for dinner, we decided to bake chicken breasts smothered with a light honey mustard sauce.

The honey mustard sauce had a kick of garlic, cayenne pepper and lemon that was simply divine.

Not only was dinner prepped in under five minutes but the chicken turned out to be so juicy and tender!

This baked chicken breast recipe will become your favorite go-to recipe for a healthy quick an easy dinner.

This recipe includes optional roasted green beans cooked on the same baking pan!

If you don’t like green beans, you can replace with broccoli, asparagus, brussels sprouts or any of your favourite veggies.

How To Make Baked Chicken Breasts With Light Honey Mustard Sauce

Here are the step by step instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F OR 200°C.
  • Line baking tray with parchment paper and lightly grease with oil. 
  • Combine oil, honey, mustards, cayenne pepper, garlic, lemon juice and paprika in a small bowl – stir and combine well.
  • Place the chicken onto the prepared baking sheet tray, Then season with salt and pepper.
  • Spoon 3/4 of the honey mustard mixture evenly all over each chicken breast.

  • Pour 1/3 cup water onto the baking sheet to prevent burning, this also allows the sauce to be created while baking.
  • Bake for approximately 20 minutes or less, this will depend on the thickness of your chicken breasts. It’s so easy to overcook chicken breast so set the timer!
  • Brush the remaining 1/4 sauce over each breast and set the oven to grill for a further 3-4 minutes on medium-high heat to brown and caramelize the chicken.
  • Remove from oven, allow the juices to settle for 5 minutes. Serve on plate, pouring chicken juices over chicken, garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.
  • You can add other vegetables like broccoli, asparagus, and sweet potato.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1.5 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tsp Fresh garlic (chopped finely)
  • 1 tbsp Whole grain mustard
  • 0.5 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 500 grams Boneless chicken breasts (4 medium chicken breasts)
  • 1 tsp Salt and cracked pepper to season
  • 2 tbsp Fresh chopped parsley (to garnish)
  • Lemon wedges to serve
